For years\, the public perception was all about the environmental benefits of recycling and keeping usable material out of landfills. As recycling became a bigger part of our daily lives over the past 30 years\, companies came to rely on recyclables as feedstock in their manufacturing processes. When nationwide lockdown policies first hit\, waste and recycling companies scrambled to ensure classification as an essential business. We also quickly realized that recycling was about more than the environment. Products such as boxes\, paper towels and tissues\, beverage cans and grocery packaging all rely heavily on recycled content and a reduction in recycling efforts threatened that supply chain. \n  \nIn this session\, hear enlightening facts and statistics about how much we depend on recycling to help fill the needs of our manufacturing base as well as a presentation on food waste diversion during these challenging times. \n  \nSpeakers: \n\nDawn McCormick\, Waste Management Inc. of Florida – A focus on the importance of recyclable materials needed for certain manufacturing supply chains.\nStephanie Baker\, KW Plastics –\nScott Breen\, The Can Manufacturers Institute – Hear how the aluminum beverage can has the leading recycling rate and recycled content among beverage containers\, and the metal can industry is focused on maintaining high recycling rates of cans amid the Coronavirus so that the significant environmental and economic benefits that come from recycling cans continues.\n\nKirsten Langan\, Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County – Food recovery organizations\, such as Second Harvest food bank have been quickly adapting operations during these times; working hard to not only divert potential waste from the landfill\, but also\, and more importantly\, feed those in our community that are most affected by the Covid19 Pandemic.\n\n  \nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZAkcOCprT0pH9YySSq90MG6xgw7fuyySQHd \n  \n  \n  \nThank you\, Event Sponsor!\n \n  \n  \nClick the image below on information of how you can\n \nhttps://mailchi.mp/recyclefloridatoday/only-3-available
