As well as the progress made on the project, the next steps to achieve the outcomes of the project, and the projects impact on Florida’s recycling.
Using Sustainable Materials Management Metrics for Alternative Recycling Rate Targets: Potential Application to Florida Under funding from the Hinkley Center, University of Florida researchers and a working group of state solid waste experts are examining the current state of solid waste management in Florida. This presentation provides an update on this project including solid waste generation, disposition and recycling rates by sector, the carbon footprint of the state’s existing solid waste management system, and an evaluation of alternative metrics for looking at progress toward recycling in the state, including the use of sustainable materials management principles.
Dr. Townsend will be joining us and sharing some of this information at our annual conference June 11-13, at the Hyatt Regency Sarasota. Join us at our annual conference to hear this talk in person and on June 28 for part two!
