Where: Lee County Solid Waste (5500 Church Street, Fort Myers, FL 33908) – Directions to Lee County Facility: 5500 Church Rd. From SR 29, after passing through Labelle, turn right onto Church Rd just before Felda. 6 miles and turn right at the stop sign. From the west, SR 82 from I-75 towards Immokalee, turn left on Church Rd (turn at cell phone tower), 3 miles north, gate directly in front of you at stop sign.
Synagro Charlotte County (29751 Zemel Road, Punta Gorda, FL 33955) – Directions from Lee County to Synagro Charlotte County facility – South on Church Road. Right on SR 82W. After 23 miles, turn right onto Evans Ave/Business US 41N. After 12.5 miles, turn left onto Zemel Road. In 1 mile, turn left into the last entrance of the Charlotte County Landfill (4th turn off of Zemel). The road will immediately turn right then veer to the left and right. Follow this road for 0.8 miles and the Synagro facility will be on the left. **Parking is limited, so park on the right side of the road across from the truck scale**

Tour Itinerary
- 10:30- 11:30 a.m. – Lee County Composting Facility Tour
- 11:30 – 1:30 p.m. – Lunch to be provided by RFT at Bellacino’s Pizza and Grinder’s and travel to Charlotte County Landfill
- 1:30 – 2:15 p.m. – Synagro’s Charlotte County Composting Facility Tour
Important: PPE is required: hard hat, safety vest, eye protection and closed toes shoes. Walking will be required. Please bring your own PPE if you have it but a limited amount will be available.
What can attendees expect to experience: Attendees will be able visit Lee County to tour the facilities material receiving, pile construction, monitoring and testing, quality control practices and final product finishing. After lunch, attendees will continue the tour to see grinding operations of yard waste to mulch, receiving of bio-solids, mixing/creation of windrows, and final screening operation to produce compost product at Synagro’s Charlotte County Composting Facility.
In addition, Charlotte County personnel will be on hand to answer any other questions about the landfill, C&D operation or baling operation there on the compound.

Lee County Solid Waste – Lee County began operations in 2010. Since then the facility has processed over 60,000 tons of biosolids. Most material is distributed to local agriculture. The tour will focus on the daily operations at the facility including: material receiving, pile construction, monitoring and testing, quality control practices, and final product finishing.
